Rocklands 2009

Some friends an I have been on a trip to the Rocklands in South Africa for seven weeks. I knew that this place is really good for climbing, but as I saw it by myself i couldn´t believe how amazing the climbing is down there!! There are so many five star problems in all grates, even a lot of easier problems are really good.

During the first weeks we climbed a lot, had a look at differnt places and tried to get a bit of an overview. After some time we realized that there are a way to much perfect problems and so we had to pick out some favourites and started to work on our projects. My big project was a problem called Amandla. After some days working on it i got quite close, but then i split half my fingertip and i couldn´t even try it seriously for the rest of my trip.

So i have got a reason to come back, and finish all the problems i wasn´t able to climb this year. Here is a short ticklist of my trip:
 -  Black Shadow, Armed Response, Green Mamba all 8b
 -  Amphitheater, Oral office, Steakhouse 8a+
 -  The Hatchling, Barracuda, Gliding through the waves like Dolphins 8a, 
 -  No late Tenders, Caroline, Tomorrow I`ll be gone, Paula Abdul, Pinotage, Shark, Hole in one about 7c+/8a

After seven weeks of climbing I still haven`t been to all areas and every year new problems and even areas are put up!!

I defenitely will go there again (hopefully next summer) because the landscape, the  climbing and all the really cheap steaks are so good and amazing that  I almost have to come back.
