PAKLENICA 2008, Big Wall Speed Climbing

On 1. - 4.5.2008 Paklenica Speed Festival took place in Croatian Paklenica valley. This year was particurarly interesting for 70 year celebratian of Paklenica climbing and local climbing film festival.

Rock Pillars, Ocun participated in this festival by sponsoring kids contest consisting of 25 m climbing of 4c route for speed. There were 35 young participants from 5 countries. Total winner was Borna Cujic climbing for Rock Pillars, Ocun team.   Main contest was later speed climbing in multi-pitch route, for male 5 pitched 6c+, for ladies 4 pitches 6b. In female category our RP team had participation by couple Tamara-Irena from Split. As expected, both categories were won by "locals" as previous perfect knowledge of the routes as well as multi-pitch climbing technique were essential factors for the victory. In male category winning time was 28 minutes and the slowest 1:45 minutes.
